Leadership coaching and leadership development

PeopleSkills works with managers who want to develop their leadership or need support in a concrete situation.

The starting point is what the manager actually does. How you listen, ask questions, give feedback, follow up, make decisions and react when something goes wrong affects the people around you every day.

The work can be done individually, with several managers together or as part of a longer development project.

Leadership is visible in behaviors

Concepts such as clarity, trust and participation are important, but they need to be recognizable in what the manager actually does.

What does a clear manager do? How do you know that a manager is listening? What does a manager do that creates participation?

When such questions become concrete, it also becomes easier to work with leadership, train new behaviors, and follow what is changing.

Leadership Coaching

Leadership coaching provides the opportunity to work on real situations from your own business together with someone outside the organization.

It could be about a difficult conversation, a conflict, feedback to a co-worker, a change that doesn't go as planned, or how you yourself react under pressure.

We try to understand the situation, what behaviors affect it and what options the manager actually has.

Leadership development for groups

PeopleSkills also works with groups of managers and management groups.

Then the work can be about common leadership behaviors, feedback, responsibility, priorities, change or how managers' actions affect the rest of the organization.

The structure can consist of single workshops or several meetings where participants work on concrete situations between sessions.

Behavior analysis in leadership

PeopleSkills uses applied behavioral analysis, TBA, and Organizational Behavior Management, OBM, to understand what influences behaviors at work.

This does not mean that people are reduced to measurement points. It means that we try to be concrete about what is happening, what influences behavior and what the manager himself can change.

This makes leadership development less dependent on general advice and more connected to the manager's own activities.

Frequently asked questions about management coaching and leadership development

What is the difference between management supervision and coaching?
Coaching is often based on the manager's own goals and questions. Our management coaching is based on real situations in the business: a difficult conversation, a conflict, a change that doesn't go as planned. We look at what behaviors affect the situation and what options the manager actually has.

Is leadership development based on any model?
On applied behavioral analysis and OBM. No leadership styles, no personality tests. The starting point is what the manager does and what effect it has on the employees, and it is possible to train and follow up.

How does a learning team work?
A group of managers meets regularly over a period of time. Each meeting is based on the participants' own situations since the last one. In between meetings, each one tries something new in their business and brings the results back. That's how behaviors change, not in a classroom.

Can you start with an individual manager?
Yes. Managerial coaching often takes place individually, with a few meetings around a specific situation. Sometimes it leads to work with the manager's group or with more managers in the organization.

How do we know it is having an effect?
We define early on which leadership behaviors should become more common and follow them. The manager and often the employees see the difference in everyday life: how feedback is given, how decisions are made, how problems are handled.
